Notre Dame University-Louaize North Lebanon Campus (NDU-NLC) Ramez G. Chaghoury Faculty of Architecture, Arts and Design (FAAD) members and students were invited on April 27, 2017, by the American University of Beirut Nature Conservation Center (AUB-NCC) to participate at the IBDAA 2017. As an IBDAA member, Wissam Melhem, FT FAAD, NLC, initiated the correspondence with the IBDAA organizers.
IBDAA is an annual “green” idea event that takes place at AUB to commemorate the International Day of Biological Diversity. The theme of this year’s event was “Sustainable Solutions to our Environmental Challenges.”
The competition provided the FAAD at NLC and AUB students with the opportunity to participate in a fully-fledged forum to test their innovative abilities in addressing any issue pertaining to the conservation of nature and its development.
NDU FAAD Dean Dr. Jean Pierre el-Asmar, Chairpersons Dr. Christine Mady and John Kortbawi, NLC Coordinator MJoseph Chartouni were invited to participate as jurors for the event.
Eight Groups from the FAAD at NLC participated at the event competing along with AUB Students. Melhem followed up on the participating Architecture Students and Dana Majzoub advised the Design students.
The FAAD at NLC students, Lynn Moutragi (20147157) and Elie Jreije (20132145) who participated in the Arts and Humanities category with their project “Up-cycling Library” won the second prize (US$500).
